2 Weather Alerts Issued For Harford County By National Weather Service

The National Weather Service posted two alerts for Harford County before a snowstorm hits the area on Saturday.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — With a wintry mix in the forecast, Harford County is under a winter weather advisory Saturday. The potential for powerful winds also prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory for the region and warn of the potential Saturday morning for near-blizzard conditions.

Forecasters are calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow in northern Harford County and 2 to 4 inches of accumulation in the southern part of the county.

Roads will be slippery, and wind gusts may knock down branches. Northwest winds will gust around 45 to 55 mph, officials say.

Near-blizzard conditions are possible from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the northern Harford County forecast: A winter weather advisory runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain will change to snow between 5 and 7 a.m., and snow will be the steadiest through midday.

Here's the southern Harford County forecast: A winter weather advisory runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain will change to snow from 7 to 9 a.m.; the snow will be steadiest through Saturday morning.

Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Howard and Montgomery counties as well as Baltimore City are under winter weather advisories calling for 2 to 5 inches of snow too.

In addition, Harford County is under a wind advisory from 8 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, with the potential for 20 to 35 mph northwest winds and gusts up to 55 mph.

Specifically, the National Weather Service noted Jarrettsville and Aberdeen may see severe wind. Some gusts around 60 mph are possible, officials say, with strong winds persisting into early Sunday morning.

Here are forecasts for Aberdeen, Bel Air, Fallston and Havre de Grace.
