Harford Executive Cassilly Announces Appointment of Terri Kocher to Fill Vacancy on Board of Education

Ms. Kocher, a former Board of Education member, has offered to return to service to support HCPS during a critical time.

Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly today announced his appointment of Terri Kocher to fill the vacancy on the Harford County Board of Education created by last week’s resignation of Dr. Aaron Poynton.

Ms. Kocher is a former member of the Board of Education and expressed her willingness to return to service during this critical period for Harford County Public Schools. She has previously been vetted and confirmed by the Harford County Council, bringing both experience and continuity to the Board.

“Terri Kocher is a proven leader with firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing our school system,” County Executive Cassilly said. “Her prior service on the Board of Education, her demonstrated ability to work with all members, her sound judgment, and her willingness to step forward again demonstrate a strong commitment to our students, parents, and educators.”

The County Executive on Friday forwarded Ms. Kocher’s name to the Harford County Council and is urging the Council to move expeditiously to confirm the appointment.

“With the school system facing significant challenges, it is essential that the Board of Education operate at its full complement,” Cassilly added. “Stability and experienced leadership are especially important during these uneasy times.”
