HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Harford County Health Officer Dr. David Bishai has reportedly been terminated from his position. He has been the health officer since January 2020, taking over after his predecessor Russell Moy retired.

Bishai told The Aegis that the County Council, which voted for his removal, "wants to move in a new direction." The County Council met in closed session Oct. 19 to discuss a personnel matter. The state health secretary approved the decision, which took effect Friday, The Aegis reported.
