Hometown Heroes: Kevin Thrailkill

Banners illustrating hometown heroes like Kevin Thrailkill have lined Main Street in Bel Air since Veterans Day and will likely stay up through the middle of January.

We all have heroes and maybe one of yours is honored on Main Street this year.

Although he passed away in 2002, Kevin Thrailkill's military service is still remembered. Thrailkill is among 29 others honored with a in downtown Bel Air.

Thrailkill, a Bel Air resident who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, passed away in June of 2002, according to the banner. It was sponsored by Bel Air business WSMT Insurance.

The banners have lined the street since . Each banner honors someone in Harford County and the surrounding area who has served in the military.

The started the 2011 Hometown Hero Banner Program in observance of the 100th anniversary of and expects to continue the program next year.
