HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A community pet vaccination clinic drew 365 animals who received a variety of services including updated shots, nail trims and microchips if needed.

The special event held Feb. 10 at the Fallston Volunteer Fire & Ambulance Company attracted hundreds of dogs, more than 100 cats and two ferrets in a four-hour timeframe.

“This was just our third clinic, but was by far the largest one yet,” said Bob Citrullo, executive director at the Humane Society of Harford County. “All of the pet owners we talked to were grateful to see us and thankful for discounted preventative care. We gave 282 rabies vaccines, 212 distemper shots, 147 Bordetella vaccines and implanted 55 microchips. We also welcomed special guest, Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care, who gave nail trims to 45 pets.”

Since it began hosting clinics last August, HSHC has seen 865 pets for care vaccines like rabies and distemper, microchips or a combination of both.

“We get calls every day from pet owners who just need a little help,” Citrullo added. “These clinics offer caring, compassionate resources to help keep pets and people together.”

One pet owner thanked HSHC on social media for hosting the event, because "It helps a lot to get affordable vaccines."

The Humane Society of Harford County plans to host another clinic this spring on a date yet to be determined. Visit harfordshelter.org for more information and to check out the latest adoptables available.
