In July of 2021, Ruger sustained a crippling injury while doing one of his favorite things - playing fetch. The fluke incident left him paralyzed in his hind end and unable to walk. Through determination and therapy, Ruger learned to walk again and entered a well-earned retirement with his handler and family, the sheriff's office shared.
This summer, Ruger was brought back to “work” one final time and given the opportunity to do what he loved most.
