Man Killed, 2 Women And Child Injured In Head-On Collision

A man driving a Prius was killed and a woman and child in the car injured in a head-on collision. The other driver also was injured: MSP.

FOREST HILL, MD — A 79-year-old Kingsville man has died after being involved in a head-on crash in Harford County.

Around 5:15 p.m. Dec. 7, Maryland State Police were called to the 1800 block of Baldwin Mill Road, west of Putnam Road, for a report of a head-on collision. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2017 Chevy Silverado driven by a 66-year-old woman from Jarrettsville was heading eastbound on Baldwin Mill Road and crossed the double yellow center line. Police say she hit a 2004 Toyota Prius that was heading westbound, driven by Charles Bender Jr. of Kingsville.

Bender was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Prius, a 76-year-old woman and a four-year-old boy, were taken to the hospital by Maryland State Police Aviation to be treated for their injuries, Maryland State Police reported. The woman driving the pickup was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for more than three hours. The investigation into the crash continues, officials said.
