Fallston Man Killed By SUV While Crossing U.S. Route 1 Near Maryland Route 152

A Fallston man was killed Friday night after police say he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while crossing U.S. Route 1 near MD Route 152.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 39-year-old Fallston man died after he was hit by an SUV along Route 1 about 8:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.

According to the Maryland State Police, troopers were called to the area of U.S. Route 1 (Belair Road), north of Maryland Route 152, for a report of a crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that Luis Guzman Hernandez was attempting to cross Route 1 when he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene by Harford County emergency medical services personnel. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene, according to the Maryland State Police.

Route 1 was closed for about three hours for the crash investigation. Assistance on scene was provided by personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.

No charges are being filed at this time and troopers continue to investigate the incident.
