National Furniture Store Chain With Aberdeen Ties Celebrates 15th Anniversary

One of the largest furniture store chains in the U.S. with ties to Harford County celebrated its 15th anniversary of its Aberdeen location.

ABERDEEN, MD — The seventh largest furniture store chain in the nation celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Harford County distribution center this summer.

Bob's Discount Furniture Distribution Center, located at 511 Chelsea Road, is one of five centers that serves Bob's Discount Furniture customers. The other four distribution centers are located in Taftville, Connecticut; Shorewood, Illinois; Piscataway, New Jersey; and San Bernardino, California, Pete Sorrentino, senior vice president of distribution, transportation and logistics, told Patch.

"Bob’s Discount Furniture selected Aberdeen, Maryland, as the location for our distribution center due to its strategic proximity to our existing store network and the future expansion markets we’ve identified. This location enables us to efficiently support our growth strategy and continue delivering timely, quality service to our customers across the region," Christopher Day, senior vice president of real estate at Bob's Discount Furniture, told Patch.

Bob’s Discount Furniture focuses on offering stylish furniture, mattresses and home accents at everyday low prices. Bob’s also offers a fun shopping experience featuring complimentary cafes in every store, Sorrentino told Patch. With 202 locations across 26 states, Bob’s Discount Furniture has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces and on USA Today’s Customer Service Champions list.

But it's not just about business for Bob's Discount Furniture. The company donates $2.5 million yearly to charities and schools. In fact, for their 15th anniversary celebration at the Aberdeen distribution center, Bob's Discount Furniture leaders donated $2,500 to the Aberdeen Fire Department and $2,500 to Empower4Life.
