Peach Bottom Emergency Drill Planned At 2 Campuses In Harford County

Two campuses in Bel Air and Fallston will be the site of a drill that takes place every other year, Harford County officials say.

BEL AIR, MD — Emergency personnel will converge around two school campuses in Harford County Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.

Unusual activity and emergency crews will be in the area of Patterson Middle High School and Fallston High School after dismissal, Harford County authorities said.

Harford County Emergency Services said the activity is for a drill it conducts every other year to prepare for an emergency at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in Delta, Pa.

Peach Bottom is one of 55 nuclear power plants in the United States. At each, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission requires development and testing of emergency response plans.

"There is no need for concern," Harford County government officials said of the activity off Patterson Mill Road and Carrs Mill Road.

Since they will be after school, the exercises are slated for after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

A sign at the school said the drill would be from 5 to 10 p.m.
