POLICE: Edgewood Death Ruled Homicide

The Harford County Sheriff's Office discovered a man dead Sunday morning inside an Edgewood home.

Medical examiners have ruled the death of an Edgewood man found dead in his home Sunday a homicide.

Robert Wesley Johns, 51, was found dead from a gunshot wound inside his Edgewood home on the 1700 block Fountain Rock Way, according to a news release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies were called to the home to check on Johns' well-being. When they arrived, the door was locked, but they heard the sound of the television from inside and saw blood on the door, according to the release.

Deputies then spotted a body on the floor inside the home and forced their way inside. The house appeared to have been ransacked, the release states.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Johns died as a result of a gunshot wound and has ruled the death a homicide.

Detectives have not released any further information about the investigation, and are asking for help from the public.
