Police Investigating Bel Air Abduction, Attempted Sexual Assault

Bel Air Police are investigating an abduction and attempted sexual assault that started in town limits Tuesday night.

Around 11 p.m., Tuesday, the victim stopped to assist a man waving for help in the area of Marketplace Drive and Maryland Route 24 in Bel Air, according to a release from the Bel Air Police Department.

When the victim stopped, the man forced his way into the car and drove the victim to an area in Abingdon or Edgewood where he tried to sexually assault the victim, the release states.

The man told the victim his name was Thomas and he lived in the Abingdon or Edgewood area, according to the release.

The attacker is described as a black man, between the ages of 40 and 60, with a medium build and medium to dark complexion. He was about 5' 9" tall, weighed about 190 to 200 pounds and had short, cropped hair.
