Aberdeen Police Officer Charged With Rape, Sexual Assault, False Imprisonment

An Aberdeen Police Officer has been charged with rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and other charges in a March 2019 incident.

ABERDEEN, MD — An Aberdeen police officer has been charged with rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and other charges in connection to an incident that happened in March 2019 in Cecil County.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the administrative staff was contacted in January 2024 by the Cecil County Sheriff's Office regarding a possible sexual assault involving Officer Radovan Jovic, 33.

The Aberdeen Police Department launched an investigation Feb. 1 and suspended Jovic, who was a six-year veteran of the Aberdeen Police Department and was assigned as an acting corporal in the patrol division at the time of his suspension.

Detectives learned that the March 2019 incident happened in the 2000 block of West Creek Village apartments. Jovic was arrested Oct. 7 and charged with second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense, assault second-degree, false imprisonment and misconduct in office.
