Proposed Car Wash In Bel Air Draws Concerns From Nearby Residents

BEL AIR, MD — Residents have expressed concern about a proposed Auto Spa Express Car Wash planned near the planned Bel Air Costco location that would wash up to 200 cars an hour.

Community members spoke out at a meeting held earlier this month. Engineers explained at that meeting that the 5,223-square-foot car wash would be located on the same 33-acre parcel as the proposed Costco. The current proposal shows a 130-foot, automated, belt-operated car wash tunnel with 26 parking spaces for vehicle drying.

Project planners explained to meeting attendees that access to the car wash would be only from within the shopping center’s property. That way, adjacent main roads would not have a bolstered traffic load. The car wash is estimated to bring about 73 daily weekday trips, and about 155 trips between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
