Puppy Bowl Star Adopted By Harford County Family Before The Big Game

A Puppy Bowl star from a VA animal shelter ended up being adopted by a Harford County family before the big game on Sunday.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 7-month-old puppy at Operation Paws for Homes in Virginia was chosen to participate in the Puppy Bowl. But before she made her debut on TV, she captured the hearts of a Harford County family.

Lottie - known as Abigail when the Puppy Bowl was recorded - was nominated in August for the Puppy Bowl. She and another puppy were chosen to be filmed in October, said Irene Skricki with Operation Paws for Homes.

But the Testerman family from Forest Hill met Abigail, now called Lottie, and instantly fell in love. The family was surprised when they learned that little Lottie actually was a celebrity.

"My wife and I were talking, and I did a little more research, and Abigail happened to still be there, kind of a little bit of fate," Douglas Testerman told WMAR. "We've seen her score touchdowns, and I know the referee at one point called a touchdown, and Lottie went over to him and started licking his face. Lottie is just a perfect example of what an addition a dog can be and really a blessing to a family."

"I think it's cool that people get to see how a shelter dog can really be a great fit for a family." Shannon Testerman added.
