Retired Harford County Couple Cashes In On $150K Scratch-Off Ticket

A retired couple from Harford County stopped by a gas station and picked up a couple of lotto tickets that ended up winning $150K.

FALLSTON, MD — A retired married couple from Fallston out running errands popped by a gas station for gas and grabbed a lottery ticket that ended up netting $150,000.

The wife had two tickets in her purse that needed to be cashed in. She used part of her winnings to buy two $10 More Money scratch-off tickets, then they went on about their day.

“If I hadn’t had those two tickets, I never would have gone in,” the retired office manager told lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “My husband was taking care of the gas, so I went in to cash them. I scratched the first ticket and found no matches."

But the second ticket showed a different outcome.

“It looked like $50,000, but I knew there was no way it could be, so I got out my glasses," she said. “My husband didn’t believe me. He was so sure that I was reading the ticket incorrectly that he didn’t even pull over to look at it."

The Harford County couple told lottery officials they plan to share the $150,000 top-prize win with their family. The Carroll Fuel station at 1467 Rock Springs Road in Bel Air received a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
