1. Bel Air Girl Severely Injured at Orioles Game: 'Most Helpless Feeling You Will Ever Have'
When Joseph Kraft took his 10-year-old daughter to the Oriolesgame Friday night at Camden Yards, he expected a fun night out with his family, like he has had hundreds of times before. Instead, he watched a nightmare unfold in front of his eyes, after his daughter was hit in the face with a baseball during batting practice.
2. Wheel Road Construction Expected to Wrap Up in November
Those wishing the construction on Wheel Road would wrap up, will have to wait until November. The Department of Public Works (DPW) said Thursday that work is approximately 20 percent complete on the project, and that the expected completion date is November of this year.
3. Local Resident Launches Nonprofit to Showcase Women’s Inner Glow
Ever since she was a kid, Bel Air native Amber Kreisel has wanted to start a nonprofit. And on September 1, Kreisel will see the organization she had already built become an even bigger reality. Kreisel, 26, launched InTheGlow in April. On Sunday, she will officially launch her first initiative, Dress Your Glow with the opening of a storefront that will provide dresses to local girls free of charge.
4. Alzheimer’s Walk Unites Hundreds with Common Goal
Hundreds of local residents will unite on October 5 to do their part in the battle against Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting its annual Harford County Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the Bel Air Equestrian Center in October.
5. 2 HCC Students Awarded $2,500 Science Scholarships
Two Harford Community College science students were recently awarded scholarships from the Senior Science Society. Joseph Jaworski and Elise Thompson were each presented with a “STEM” Transfer Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 from the Senior Science Society.
