Tree Impales Garage During Storm Prompting Reminder From Fire Department

FALLSTON, MD — After storms rolled through the area leaving behind a swath of damage, a call for help on July 16 came from a property located in the 2500 block of Rochelle Drive.

The initial call was for help with a collapsed structure discovered at 6:30 a.m. Emergency workers with the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company discovered a tree that had impaled an attached garage but no damage to the home could be found, according to the fire company.

There were people in the home, but no injuries were reported, officials said.

"With all the rain and expected thunderstorms in this week's forecasts, this is a great opportunity to survey your property for potential risks of tree instability and debris from past storms, and mitigate these risks," the fire company stated.

A few fast-moving storms are possible on Thursday, with strong winds and heavy rain likely late in the afternoon into the evening, according to the Capital Weather Gang.
