The United Way of Central Maryland announced Monday nearly $234,000 in grants to six Harford County nonprofits.

“Successful communities aren’t about social service programs working in isolation,” Mark Furst, United Way of Central Maryland's president and CEO, said in a press release. “These grants to nonprofit programs in Harford County allow us to work together toward our overall goal of creating self-sufficient families, stronger communities and a more successful region for us all.”

The community impact grants are aimed at organizations serving the education, income and health of low-income residents, according to a press release.
