2 Men Charged With Stealing From Cars In Bethesda Area: Police
Two men arrested on Tuesday were accused of stealing items from cars in the Bethesda area. One was found with a loaded handgun, police said.

BETHESDA, MD — Two men were arrested on Tuesday in connection with multiple thefts from autos in the Bethesda area, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
At about 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police officers responded to the 8500 block of 16th Street for the report of a theft from a vehicle in progress. Police learned that two males, wearing all black clothing with blue rubber gloves, were walking around and attempting to open the doors of multiple cars in the area.
When police officers arrived, they found two suspects matching the description and placed them under arrest. The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Matthew Alfonso Scott Jr., of Washington, D.C., and 22-year-old Manden Jervell Turner, of Hyattsville, Maryland.

When searching Scott, officers found a window punch and blue latex gloves. Officers found a loaded black High Point 10 mm handgun and a backpack with a stolen purse and multiple stolen wallets and bank cards on Turner, police said.
The two men were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, police said.

Scott was charged with multiple thefts from autos and released on an unsecured personal bond. Turner faced the same charges, along with firearm charges. He is being held without bond, police said.
