BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County police released surveillance video of a suspect in the armed robbery of a Chipotle in downtown Bethesda.

At about 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 5, police officers responded to the Chipotle in the 7600 block of Old Georgetown Road.

The suspect entered the restaurant and placed an order. He then put his hand in his backpack and demanded the employee empty a cash register. The cashier ran away and called police. The suspect jumped behind the counter and tried to open the register, without success, police said.

The suspect saw a second employee, displayed a tan and black handgun, and demanded the employee open the register. The employee complied, according to police. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and ran away from the scene.

The suspect is described as a Black male, about 20 to 25 years-old, 5-feet, 7-inches to 5-feet, 8-inches tall.
