Bethesda Dance Studio Teen Choreographer To Perform Saturday

A teen choreographer and dancer from will be featured at Saturday’s .

and three of her company’s dancers will perform “Water Between Us,” a piece she created over a year ago.

Ballance is a part of the studio’s Youth Dance Ensemble.

Instructor Helen Hayes said that Joy of Motion Dance Center has had its performers featured before at Dance Bethesda, but notes Ballance may be the youngest.

“She has a remarkable gift,” Hayes said. “We recognize that gift and give her the opportunity to work on her craft and continue to grow.”

The 35-year-old studio will host a workshop on Friday along with three other Bethesda-based studios.

Joy of Motion offers the community a range of genres of dance including ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, hip-hop and belly dancing.

It’s opened to people of all ages from youth to seniors and there are walk-in classes available as well as actual dance companies to join.
