Bethesda Star Athlete: Jacob, Top MD Wrestler, Volunteers In Community

BETHESDA, MD — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Derek C. Manon, who nominated Jacob, an 11th grader from Bethesda-Chevy Chase, was a state finalist in his first year of high school wrestling.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Jacob was a state finalist last year as a sophomore. This was only his first year of high school wrestling, as he missed his freshmen year due to the cancelled Covid season. Jacob was also a region champ. Jacob finished second in the state with a 27-6 record!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Jacob is also a terrific student. Jacob had a 4.0 GPA his sophomore year and also spends time volunteering his time to local charities.
