Bethesda Woman Wins Big In Maryland Lottery

A lucky Bethesda woman celebrated the new year with a $25,000 win during the Maryland Lottery's Keno Sprinkler promotion.

BETHESDA, MD — A lucky Bethesda woman celebrated the new year by taking home $25,000 during the Maryland Lottery's Keno Sprinkler promotion.

Leslie Smart, 60, stopped at a Giant in Rockville to pick up cleaning supplies for her new apartment when she decided to cash in her winning Keno tickets from a few days prior.

Smart's prizes initially totaled close to $150, so she decided to buy 20 more Keno games to take advantage of the Lottery's promotion, where players double or triple their prizes if their ticket prints with a doubler or tripler is a winner.

“When I saw eight out of nine of my Keno numbers come out, I knew I had won big,” Smart said.

Smart took home $25,028 because of the promotion. She plans to take her grandson to see a professional rodeo competition in San Antonio this year and took her husband of 11 years to a romantic dinner, she told Lottery officials.
