Burger Chain To Open 4th MoCo Restaurant: Report

Shake Shack will open its fourth Montgomery County location after submitting construction papers for a site in downtown Bethesda.

BETHESDA, MD — The burger chain Shake Shack will open its fourth Montgomery County restaurant at 7535 Old Georgetown Road in downtown Bethesda, reports said. While a lease was signed in May, no opening date has been announced.

The Washington Business Journal first reported Shake Shack will occupy the former SunTrust space in Element 28, an apartments and retail tower at 7535 Old Georgetown Road, across from the Bethesda Metro station.

The ground-floor storefront totals roughly 3,200 square feet, the Journal said.

The fast-food restaurant known for its varieties of burgers, shake and crinkle-cut fries already has venues at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, 7997 Tuckerman Lane in Potomac and 150 Kentlands Place in Gaithersburg.

Typical operating hours for the existing Shake Shacks are: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Journal said the plans for the new restaurant list booth seating for 20 and an outdoor patio.

Shake Shack's website says its burgers are all made from 100% Angus beef raised without added hormones or antibiotics.

But, for vegetarian and vegan customers, a new Veggie Shack is a meatless patty packed with veggies and topped with American Cheese, crispy onions, pickles, and ShackSauce. You can make it vegan by removing the cheese, ShackSauce, crispy fried onions, and requesting a lettuce wrap or gluten-free bun to sub the Martin's Potato Roll.

The ‘Shroom Burger is also a meatless option, featuring a crisp-fried Portobello mushroom stuffed with muenster and cheddar cheese topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and ShackSauce.

Menu items also include a BBA chicken sandwich, an avocado bacon chicken sandwich, and chicken bites.

Shake flavors include: Oreo cookie funnel cake, banana pudding, campfire s'mores, vanilla and chocolate. Or try a root beer float or frozen custard.

Shake Shack started as a hot dog cart in New York City's Madison Square Park, with a mission to raise money for a public art project. "As we grew into a global business, our mission to Stand For Something Good expanded to include sourcing premium ingredients from partners with the same dedication to quality and supporting our communities through donations, events, and volunteering," the company said.
