Celebrate Year Of The Dragon At Westfield Montgomery Mall In Bethesda

BETHESDA, MD — Westfield Montgomery will be celebrating the Lunar New Year on Feb. 10, marking the year of the dragon.

The Bethesda mall will be hosting the celebration in partnership with the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center, a nonprofit organization that serves Montgomery County’s Chinese American community.

The celebration will include a dragon-lion dance, artistic demonstrations, live performances, and traditional dances during a day of activities for the family.

The mall will also be adorned with festive decorations marking the ancient traditional holiday.

“Westfield Montgomery, in partnership with CCACC, is so excited to commemorate the year of the dragon with our community,” said Zeina Davis, director of marketing for Westfield Montgomery. “Collaborating with such vital local partners is truly what community means to us — and we hope to bring a sense of this time-honored tradition to the center and all of our customers.”

The celebration will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. Before the performances start, visitors will get to enjoy a parade through the mall with traditional drums. After the event, the stage will transform into the perfect photo moment for visitors.

Crafts and children’s activities like fan making and paper-folding will take place at the mall throughout the afternoon of Feb. 10.

The public can RSVP for the free event on the Westfield Montgomery website.

Visitors should bring their RSVP and check-in to receive a Red Envelope. Lucky attendees will receive traditional red envelopes with special surprises inside, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity.
