Falling into Art

A roundup of Fall happenings in the DMV during the Autumn season through an artistic take.

When Fall comes around the leaves change colors, they turn red, orange, burgundy and gold.

The Fall leaves start their dance towards the earth in a swing with the wind swaying their way back to the ground.

In the Fall crisp air, woolen knitted sweaters, scarves and beanie bonnets start making an appearance.
Fall's glory is one to wait for to appear once a year and amazes every single year.
For me as an artist and art educator, one of my first and foremost missions is to open people's eyes to the beauty of nature. In a Fall semester, I make it a point to do demos of Fall landscapes which are even more appreciated when one makes them into works of art.
The beauty of Fall in the DMV area is like no other, The transformation of colors from green to earthy warm golden tones start appearing and eventually disappear when Winter comes around. The few months of September and October don't only utter Halloween but the color orange in pumpkin patches and fields start taking center stage. The harvest season with its harvest moon, not only brings us everything Pumpkin but also delicious apples become main players from warm apple ciders and apple pies to Caramel apples. Butternut squash soup is also a must to do for those who love to brew a stew.
Fall in the DMV offers so much not only to the eyes, but to the foodies amongst us.
My Fall classes starting this upcoming Monday Oct 2 at the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park are still enrolling. Also, my Drawing art class as well is open for registration and starts on Friday Oct 6.
In the watercolor class, we'll create Fall landscapes to truly appreciate the season through an artistic take and to fully understand the transformation occurring in nature through the creation of art.

Besides my Fall art classes, good news is that my artwork was selected and is currently on exhibit in a museum at the BMFA Museum in Texas in an international art show.
Locally in Montgomery County, I have a solo art exhibition titled "ELEVATION" ongoing till the end of October at the Framer's Choice Gallery in the trendy area of Kentlands in Gaithersburg, MD. Gallery Hours: Mon-Sat: 10AM-3PM / A Reception will be held on Sat Oct 14, 3-5 PM at the gallery (Free & open to the public). Gallery is located at: 402 Main St, Gaithersburg, MD 20878
In "Elevation" my newest paintings are on view. The abstracted seascape, skyscapes and landscapes embody the state of enlightenment towards elevation and harmony.

Moreover, In Baltimore, Maryland, I've been invited to exhibit in the current "UNDERCURRENT" group exhibition ongoing till December at CCBC / The Community College of Baltimore County / The Gallery Essex. The exhibition showcases artwork focused on the Chesapeake Bay and its surrounding waterways where the work explores the ecology of the area with a mix of celebration and fear for its continued health.
