Family Displaced, Firefighter Injured Following Tuesday Evening Blaze

A firefighter suffered minor injuries battling a house fire on Greentree Road in Bethesda.

A family was displaced and one firefighter suffered minor injuries following a Tuesday evening house fire on Greentree Road in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Fire and Rescue discovered heavy fire conditions as they responded to the split-level home in the 5900 block of Greentree Road just before 6 p.m.  The fire was quickly extinguished, and one firefighter was transported to the hospital after suffering minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman.

The cause of the fire, which appears to have begun in the garage, remains under investigation. Estimated damages were not yet available Tuesday evening.

The displaced family is believed to be two elderly residents and an adult child, the spokesman said.
