Free Immunizations Offered To Eligible Children Returning To MCPS

Students attending Montgomery County Public Schools must have up-to-date immunization records. Some children can get immunized for free.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County is offering free immunizations to eligible children ahead of the 2020-2021 school year.

Kids returning to school virtually on Monday, Aug. 31, are required to have up-to-date immunizations. Parents must submit documentation by the first day of attendance, according to officials.

If they don't, their children can be excluded from school, beginning Sept. 20.

Students new to Montgomery County Public Schools and children in kindergarten through 12th grade can schedule their immunization appointments Monday through Friday, at locations in Silver Spring and Germantown.

Those 18 and younger must meet at least one of the following criteria to be eligible for free immunizations:

  • Child does not have health insurance
  • Child is covered by Medical Assistance
  • Child has health insurance that does not cover vaccines
  • Child is Alaskan native or American Indian

Children with private health coverage should schedule immunization appointments with their primary health care provider.

Parents can access their child's vaccination record online at the Maryland Department of Health's web portal. They can view and print official copies of vaccination records without a request to their health care provider.
