Why Go: Dance Bethesda is a great way to check out dance performances at venues throughout the downtown and try out some moves yourself. Plus, many of the events planned are free. The festival culminates with a dance concert at 8p.m. Saturday at and new this year, a free youth dance party will kick off at 7p.m. Friday.
Pricing: Many events are free. The Saturday dance concert is $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. For more information, visit www.bethesda.org.

Why Go: Hear jazz music during this three-day festival from performers across the region, including jazz musicians from Walt Whitman, Blair and Blake high Schools and the Levine School.

Why Go: Learn more about the Bethesda author whose book was adapted into the play that’s currently being performed at The author, Alice McDermott, will be on-hand at the Writer’s Center with Round House artistic director Blake Robinson at 1p.m. The play will be shown at Round House at 3p.m., followed by a panel discussion on the adaptation.
