Why Go: Catch some great local music at a performance by funk ensemble, the Funk Ark.

Where/When:  9a.m. Feb. 26 at Tilden Middle School, 11211 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda

Why Go: This is a can’t miss-event – a popular Walter Johnson High School fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, WJ students eat a one-pound burrito and run a mile. The event is in its fifth year.

Pricing: $10 to run, $5 to watch the race. Student runners are provided burritos courtesy of Qdoba Mexican Grill of Rockville.

Where/When: 3-4p.m. Feb. 26 at the Josiah Henson Special Park, 11420 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda

Why Go: Celebrate Black History Month at the Josiah Henson Special Park, once the home of the man who inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe's work "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Local poets will read their works on the all subjects related to slavery, freedom, the Underground Railroad, Rev. Josiah Henson and other topics related to the African-American experience.

Why Go: Play an energizing game of backgammon (or not -- you can attend without playing) to support the Wellness Community.
