Grocery Store Chain Opens Latest MD Location

BETHESDA, MD — The grocery store chain Lidl opened its first location in Bethesda Wednesday morning at 7625 Old Georgetown Road in a former Safeway store.

The newest Lidl US store will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

"At Lidl US, shoppers experience a curated collection of private label picks, global imports, and everyday name brands," the company said. "From imported cheeses to fresh meats and seafood, you’ll get to experience the quality we’re famous for in Europe — without using your passport."

Lidl also has stores in Takoma Park, Wheaton and Montgomery Village among the 21 locations in Maryland. Other sites include Columbia, Perry Hall, Bowie, Annapolis, Wheaton, Aberdeen, College Park, Timonium, Reisterstown, Catonsville, Montgomery Village, and Baltimore.

• The Famous 49 Cent Croissant: Our famous 49-cent butter croissants are flown in from Europe and baked fresh daily in stores.
• Angel Hair Chocolate: A melt-in-your-mouth treat featuring delicate pişmaniye (Turkish cotton candy), rich raspberry chocolate and creamy pistachio filling for a unique bite.
