Homeowner Locks Herself In Bathroom While Man Burglarizes Home: Police

A man has been charged with first degree burglary after burglarizing a Bethesda residence as the homeowner locked herself in the bathroom.

BETHESDA, MD — A 67-year-old man has been charged with first degree burglary and other charges after burglarizing a Bethesda home while the homeowner was there, according to Montgomery County police.

Walter Lee Wright, of an unconfirmed address, is currently being without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit in connection with the incident.

On Thursday, at about 10:35 p.m., police officers responded to the 4500 block of Dorset Ave. in Bethesda for a burglary in progress. The homeowner called police, while locked in her bathroom, as the suspect was walking through her home, police said.

When officers arrived, they saw the suspect, later identified as Wright, in the front of the victim’s residence, carrying property, police said. Wright ran away from the scene and officers later found him in the area of Deal Pl. and Cumberland Ave., where he was taken into custody, according to police.
