Labor Day Art Show, Dance Showcase Coming to Glen Echo Park

The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture is holding its annual Labor Day Art Show in the historic Spanish Ballroom at the park.

GLEN ECHO, MD — The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture is holding the 52nd annual Labor Day Art Show in its historic Spanish Ballroom from Saturday through Monday.

The show at Glen Echo Park will display more than 700 works by more than 300 artists and includes sculpture, paintings, ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography and furniture.

The event typically attracts a wide range of visitors, from art collectors to the casual admirer, and from families with young children to seniors, the partnership said. The show will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

This year’s judge for the Labor Day Art Show Awards is Tom Doyle, an educator and artist based in Washington, D.C.

The partnership is also holding a free two-day Social Dance Showcase on Saturday and Sunday in the park’s Bumper Car Pavilion and Ballroom Back Room.

Visitors will get a taste of a variety of different dance styles, including swing, soul line dancing, contra, zydeco, waltz and tango. Beginner lessons will be held at the start of each dance, and all dances are open to people of any skill level.

The Social Dance Showcase will take place on from 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, and from 1 p.m. on Sunday to 1 a.m. on Monday.

Glen Echo Park, at 7300 MacArthur Blvd., is owned by the National Park Service, but is funded through grants and donations. The park is managed by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture in partnership with the National Park Service and Montgomery County.
