BETHESDA, MD — Katie Ledecky won the silver as part of the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay team Wednesday night, anchoring the swim in an exciting leg that brought the United States to its second place finish.

The U.S. team swam the race in 7 minutes and 40.73 seconds, behind the gold medal winners from China and ahead of the Australian team. All three teams broke the previous world record, with China setting the new one at 7 minutes and 40.33 seconds.

Ledecky has already won a gold and silver medal in this year's Olympic Games. She faced her first ever individual loss on Sunday to Australia's Ariarne Titmus in the 400 meter freestyle, and didn't medal in the 200 meter freestyle.

She has another opportunity to medal later this week, when she competes in the 800 meter freestyle final.
