Metro Reconstruction Continues, Adjusting Weekend Schedule

Make sure your weekend travel plans take into account these Metro service changes.

Reconstruction of the Metro rail system is scheduled to continue this weekend, which will cause some service delays for travelers.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and continuing through close on Sunday, five of the six lines will run on adjusted service.

  • Red Line trains will operate every 18 minutes.
  • Orange, Silver and Blue line trains will operate every 20 minutes.
  • Yellow Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq only.
  • Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Allow yourself extra travel time if you’re planning on using Metro to get to a time-sensitive appointment.

Metro is currently undergoing a $5.5 billion renovation to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more, the largest renovation since the system began in the 1970s.
