Michelin-Recommended Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings Opens First MD Location
Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, the restaurant concept known for its Michelin-recommended soup dumplings, has opened its first Maryland location.
BETHESDA, MD — Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, the Shanghainese restaurant concept known for its Michelin-recommended soup dumplings, opened its first Maryland location on Oct. 1.
The company said the debut marks the brand’s entry into the Greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
Nan Xiang is serving diners at Westfield Montgomery, 7101 Democracy Blvd., Suite 2350, located just off Interstate 270 in Montgomery County.

“We are delighted to introduce our seminal soup dumplings to Maryland and the Greater D.C. area,” said Eddie Zheng, CEO of Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, in a news release. “Our hope is that Nan Xiang additionally serves a communal space where residents can experience the Nan Xiang legacy while enjoying a unique dining experience in the heart of Montgomery County.”
The new Westfield Montgomery location will serve Nan Xiang’s signature original pork soup dumplings, as well as the crab and pork soup dumplings – crab meat and golden crab roe blend with the pork filling. From the paper-thin dough to the savory broth to the tender meat filling, every soup dumpling is made from scratch and steamed to perfection.

Celebrated for their delicate, thin skins and flavorful broth, Nan Xiang has followed nearly two decades of culinary craftsmanship, using the freshest ingredients and centuries-old culinary techniques, the restaurant said.
The menu also offers recent innovation from Nan Xiang, including vegetable soup dumplings filled with a blend of bok choy, dried bean curd, and shiitake mushrooms. Also new are rich, flavorful Taiwan sweet and sour short ribs, braised and finished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
All-day breakfast offerings include classics such as fried dough sticks served with warm soybean milk.
