Montgomery County Adds 297 Coronavirus Cases, 4 Deaths Overnight

Friday's additions push Montgomery County's totals to 58,308​​ cases and 1,254​​​​ deaths since the start of the pandemic.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County reported 297 new cases of coronavirus Friday, as well as four more deaths caused by the disease.

The latest additions, published by the Maryland Department of Health, push the countywide totals to 58,308 infections and 1,254 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.

Another 44 residents are believed to have died from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, without ever getting tested. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 67,262, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 350,629 coronavirus cases, 6,900 confirmed deaths, and 176 "probable deaths." Of the 1,616 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 367 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
