Montgomery County Hits 17,842 Coronavirus Cases, 754 Deaths
Montgomery County added 84 new coronavirus cases and two more deaths on Monday, Aug. 3. Here's the latest.

BETHESDA, MD — Maryland's most populous county added 84 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing its local total to 17,842.
Meanwhile, two more people have died from COVID-19 in Montgomery County. Its death toll now stands at 754.
The latest fatality count does not include the 39 others whose deaths were linked to the virus, but never confirmed by a lab test. They are considered "probable deaths" — and will not be added to the official total until a lab can confirm the cause of death.

The county — which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 22,183, according to the latest figures.
Statewide, there have been 91,144 coronavirus cases, 3,389 confirmed deaths, and 134 "probable deaths." Of the 548 patients being hospitalized for the disease, 135 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
