Most 'Christmassy' Towns: Bethesda Makes List For Its Holiday Vibes

Bethesda, with its Winter Wonderland event, was named one of the top towns in the U.S. for exuding the strongest Christmas vibes.

BETHESDA, MD — Bethesda was named one of the top towns in the U.S. for exuding the strongest Christmas vibes.

Bethesda and Frederick were the only two Maryland towns to make the list of the top 75 most “Christmassy” towns, as determined by Mixbook, a photo book brand. More than 3,000 families were polled to come up with the top Christmassy towns.

In the poll, Bethesda came in as the 34th most Christmassy town.

“During the holiday season, Bethesda's streets and public spaces are adorned with festive lights and decorations, creating a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere,” Mixbook said in the rankings.

Bethesda’s annual Winter Wonderland event is a highlight, featuring a winter concert, ice sculpting demonstrations, and a visit from Santa, drawing both locals and visitors into the festive spirit.

“Bethesda's diverse array of shops and restaurants, especially around Bethesda Row, join in the celebration with holiday-themed window displays and seasonal offerings,” Mixbook said.

Based on the poll results, Frederick was ranked the 26th most Christmassy town in the U.S.

The top five most Christmassy towns in the U.S., according to Mixbook, were Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at No. 1, followed by Durango, Colorado; Lake Placid, New York; Stowe, Vermont; and Alexandria, Virginia.

“We hope our guide inspires families to experience these wonderful destinations that celebrate the essence of Christmas,” Leslie Albertson, director of brand at Mixbook, said in a statement.

“Visiting these festive towns provides a unique opportunity to create lasting memories, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the spirit of the season” Albertson said.
