Motorists Stranded, Roads Closed Following Flash Flood In MoCo
Dozens of motorists were stranded in high water following a flash flood Thursday in Montgomery County.

BETHESDA, MD — Dozens of vehicles were stranded in high water following a flash flood Thursday in Montgomery County.
County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said the department received around 150 calls in a three-hour period between 12:45 and 3:45 p.m. — about 50 percent of what the department typically receives in a day.
About 25 to 50 of those calls were water rescues, he added. No serious injuries were reported.

Portions of the county — such as Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, and Gaithersburg — are under a flash flood warning until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A number of roads are closed due to flooding.
