CHEVY CHASE, MD — Multiple units were damaged after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Chevy Chase on Monday, according to officials and a report.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said crews responded to a blaze on the 15th floor of The Highlands at Chevy Chase, located at 5480 Wisconsin Ave.

A second alarm was dispatched around 11:40 a.m., officials said.

By 12:10 p.m., the fire was extinguished, and crews were clearing other apartments and floors.

MCFRS Assistant Chief Daniel Ogren told Bethesda Today on Monday that the fire appeared to have originated in an in-wall heating unit, and the blaze was isolated to a single apartment. No injuries were reported.

About 15 units were deemed uninhabitable due to fire, smoke and water damage, Ogren told the publication.
