North Bethesda Man Fatally Shot After Charging At DC Officers With Knife
The incident occurred around noon Tuesday, an hour after Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call.

WASHINGTON, DC — A North Bethesda man was fatally shot on Tuesday after authorities said he charged at two Washington, D.C. police officers while he was armed with two knives.
The incident occurred around noon, about an hour after Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 5100 block of Sherier Place Northwest for a report of a domestic disturbance.
According to police, the caller told authorities that 31-year-old Jonathan Boruch was on his way to their home and threatened to damage vehicles.

When officers were interviewing the victim, police said Boruch arrived at the location and charged at the officers with the knives.
According to police, the responding officers gave multiple verbal commands for Boruch to drop his knives. While one officer deployed their taser twice, authorities said, Boruch continued to advance toward the officers and ignore commands. At that time, police said both officers deployed their service weapons once, striking Boruch.

Officers immediately called for DC Fire and EMS, police said. Despite all life-saving measures, Boruch was pronounced dead at the scene.
The involved officers have since been placed on administrative leave in accordance with MPD policy.
The officer-involved shooting is under investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau’s Force Investigations Team, which investigates all law enforcement officer-involved shootings in the District of Columbia. The United States Attorney’s Office will independently review the facts and evidence in the case.
