Partial Ceiling Collapse At Walter Reed Emergency Center

Part of an overhang collapsed near the ER entrance at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.

BETHESDA, MD — Part of an overhang collapsed at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda Monday, officials announced Tuesday morning.

The ceiling is under construction and partially collapsed near the ER entrance in the 8900 block of Rockville Pike, spokesperson Pete Piringer told Patch.

No one was injured and the ER entrance was not affected. The ER remained open, Piringer said.

The emergency department of the medical center is part of a large campus north of downtown Bethesda.
