Police Investigate Armed Robbery On Wisconsin Avenue In Chevy Chase

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on May 1 in the stairwell of a commercial building on Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chase.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on May 1 in the stairwell of a commercial building on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase.

On Tuesday, police released photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

At about 10:45 a.m. on Monday, May 1, police responded to the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue for the report of an armed robbery.

The suspect approached a female victim in a stairwell of the building, pushed her against the wall, touched her inappropriately, displayed a knife and threatened to kill her, police said. The suspect took her cell phone and threw it against the wall. The suspect then stole her wallet and left the scene, according to police.

Police reviewed the surveillance cameras of the building and obtained a description of the suspect. The suspect is described as a Black male, about 20 years old, 6-feet tall, with a thin athletic build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the armed robbery can contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
