Report: Bubby's Closed

Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog is reporting that Bubby's deli is closed for good.

The deli "just couldn't do the numbers," owner Jeff Manas told Table Talk.

Manas that the deli was closed temporarily to undergo renovations. Manas told Patch he planned to re-open the renovated restaurant -- which would include a bar -- sometime after Labor Day. The restaurant was approved for a liquor license July 7, Patch reported.

Manas told Table Talk Monday that he couldn't agree to terms with his landlord while he was exploring a new concept for the restaurant. “I didn’t want to pay rent while we were undergoing renovations,” Manas told Table Talk. “We just couldn’t make a deal.”
