Strong Turnout for Governor's Visit, Cooler Weather for National Night Out

Here are five things to know in Bethesda and Chevy Chase on Tuesday, Aug. 6:
1.) Temperatures will be in the upper-70s with scattered thunderstorms and a 50 percent chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel.
2.) Governor Martin O'Malley's Monday afternoon visit to Bethesda to announce new state funding for the Purple Line received a strong turnout, Patch reported.
3.) Tuesday night is the 30th annual National Night Out, when police officers talk with neighbors to promote public safety. Near Bethesda and Chevy Chase, chat with police officers Tuesday evening at the Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center (2450 Lyttonsville Rd., Silver Spring).
