Teen Charged In Bethesda Tobacco Hut Armed Robbery: Police

BETHESDA, MD — A 17-year-old from Potomac has been arrested on a charge of armed robbery for a theft at the Tobacco King, 7022 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda.

About 10 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to the 7700 block of Wisconsin Avenue for an armed robbery.

Investigators said when the suspect began to place a large order, an employee asked for the suspect’s identification. In response the teen pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded the items, police said in a news release. The suspect left the store with the stolen merchandise.

Police officers located a teen matching the description of the robber at a nearby bus stop. The juvenile was arrested without incident and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

Police said the teen was charged with armed robbery and firearm offenses and released on a $10,000 bond.
