This Weekend: What To Know If You’re Taking Metro
SIx stations will be closed on the opposite side of the Red Line.

Planning on hopping the Red Line this weekend? Here’s a few things you need to know, according to WMATA:
- From 10 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday, buses will replace trains on the opposite side of the Red Line between Rhode Island Avenue and Glenmont. Six stations -- Brookland, Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont – will be closed as Metro conducts maintenance work.
- The Fort Totten Station will be open only for Green and Yellow Line service. The Red Line platform will be closed.
- Those traveling through the work zone should tack on additional 30 minutes to their travel time.
- Trains will operate normally between Rhode Island Ave. and Shady Grove.
- Customers who drive to outlying stations on the Red Line are being encouraged to use the stations along the western end of the Red Line.
- Track work is also planned on the Orange Line, where buses will replace trains between the Deanwood and Cheverly stations. Both stations will remain open.
- For more information, check Metro’s press release.
