BETHESDA, MD — As residents get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, barbecues and travel, various closures and schedule changes are planned for services around Bethesda.
The Independence Day holiday falls on Tuesday, July 4. Montgomery County government offices will be closed on July 4.

Montgomery County office buildings: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
State offices and courts: Closed Tuesday, July 4.

Montgomery County libraries: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
Alcohol Beverage Services stores: All stores open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
Ride On: Will operate on a Saturday schedule on Tuesday, July 4. See the schedule here.
Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters: Free Tuesday, July 4.
Metrobus: Will operate on a Sunday schedule on Tuesday, July 4.
Metrorail: Will operate on a Sunday holiday schedule on Tuesday, July 4.
MARC Train: Saturday service on the Penn Line only on Tuesday, July 4. No Camden or Brunswick Line service.
Trash and recycling: County-provided trash and recycling collections are on a regular schedule on Monday, July 3. There will be no trash and recycling collections on Tuesday, July 4. Collections will slide one day throughout the rest of the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, July 8.
Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling: Closed on Tuesday, July 4.
Recreation: County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m., with the exception of the Upper County outdoor pool (it will be closed). Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center and Olney Swim Center facilities will close at 6 p.m. The Germantown Indoor Swim Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Swim Center will be closed.
Community Recreation Centers: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
Senior Centers: Closed Tuesday, July 4.
Aquatic Centers: County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m.
